Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. (DD-850) Division, United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps

Welcome aboard and thank you for your interest in the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps and Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. Division. The Sea Cadet program has a long history, dating back to its inception in 1958 by the Navy League and subsequent recognition by the United States Congress via the passage of Public Law 87-655. It is committed to developing today's youth into tomorrow's responsible citizens by offering opportunities for training and leadership development. Members, ages 11-17, wear modified United States Navy uniforms and are able to attend a variety of training opportunities. These opportunities include basic recruit training, leadership training, and even specialized schools such as SEAL training and medical training.

Our unit, JPK Division, is based out of Battleship Cove in Fall River, Massachusetts. The unit has a long history, dating back to the very earliest days of the program. Concurrently, Battleship Cove boasts its own commitment to maritime excellence via their display of historical vessels maintained to reflect the eras in which they served. It can be confidently stated, then, that JPK Division has an excellent venue in which to develop young men and women within the traditions of the sea services and the maritime disciplines. Additionally, we are equally proud of our human resources, which includes individuals who have a wealth of knowledge regarding the vessels on which we train, as well as the adult leaders guiding the cadets during their time in our program. Consequently, JPK Division is proud of what we have to offer young men and women looking to better themselves and the world around them.
