Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Connecticut
Founded in 1955, the Albert N. Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Connecticut strives to be one of the leading presenters of the performing arts in the nation. Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts is a complex which consists of a 2,300 seat auditorium, the 500 seat Harriet S. Jorgensen Theater and the Jorgensen Gallery. Located on the Storrs campus, Jorgensen is a vital component of the flagship public higher education institution in the state of Connecticut.
Through presentation of the performing arts, Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts attempts to enlighten, entertain and inspire the intellectual curiosity in the University's students, faculty and staff, as well as the community at large. Thus, Jorgensen supports the University's achievement of its major goals and objectives. With its Advisory Board providing guidance and advice, Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts will:
Achieve excellence in entertainment offerings by presenting established and emerging national and international performance artists of the highest caliber.
Advance performing arts by exposing the community to a diverse, dynamic and entertaining mix of artists and presenters.
Promote collaboration between artists, students, university departments, community groups and the diverse populations of the state and the region.
In partnership with others on and off campus, enhance the University's image, cultivate a sense of community and enrich student life.
Provide experiences for students and members of the greater community which complement the formal academic programs of the University.
Operate the auditorium in a fiscally responsible manner.
