Despite its many attractions, there is still one thing missing in Lowell: top-drawer soccer. Greater Lowell United Football Club (GLUFC) intends to fill this gap by entering a team in the National Premier Soccer League, beginning with the 2014 season, and ultimately by starting a professional franchise in Lowell. With a diverse, sports-loving population, Greater Lowell is a soccer hotbed without a team to call its own. We're out to change that.
Greater Lowell United Football Club is all about spreading happiness and goodwill among fans, players and everyone involved with the club. It is our ambition to be more than a club, more than a blip on the entertainment map. We don't aim to be merely popular. We aim to be loved, cherished and admired. We want to be an obsession for our fans. That is the kind of philosophy we take into everything we do. Only a few sporting clubs worldwide have truly achieved that status, and we will be one of them.
We also seek to provide recognition for players in Greater Lowell, the Merrimack Valley area and all of Greater Boston and Southern New Hampshire. We hope to serve as a bridge between local players and national scouts through our connection with the nationally respected NPSL. We aim to provide a stage for players to showcase their talents so that they can earn college scholarships or sign professional contracts. We believe that there is a massive untapped base of soccer talent in Greater Lowell, and we intend to give those players visibility they haven't previously been able to enjoy.
