Greater Cleburne Carnegie Player

1501 W. Henderson St.
682-317-3644

About Us:

In 1978, the City of Cleburne moved their storehouse from the top floor theatre of the Carnegie Library building which had been built by a grant to the city from the Andrew Carnegie Foundation in 1904.

This opened the door for renovation of the theatre and the founding of a theatre troupe for the city.

Thus, The Greater Cleburne Carnegie Players was founded. The renovation project involved many local citizens along with the city and took two years to complete.

The Greater Cleburne Carnegie Players, named for Andrew Carnegie, is a non-profit thespian group that has been bringing live theatre to Cleburne and the surrounding area since 1980.

Starting with the first season, which included two shows, and continuing to the present with four shows performed annually, the Carnegie Players encourage participation both on the stage and off by anyone in the greater Cleburne area.

In thirty plus years in existence, the GREATER CLEBURNE CARNEGIE PLAYERS have presented over 700 performances of 105 different shows. Breaking this down further, this translates into:

-2500 volunteer actors in 1,000,000 actor-hours of rehearsals

-1250-plus parts for kids to shine

-over 4,100 costumes

– 57,000 volunteer hours of set-building and painting

-36,000 volunteer hours of backstage crewing

-4,300 lights focused
