The Glenpool Chamber of Commerce was formed in 1983. Since that time it has grown to become the effective and useful organization that we know today. Formed for the purpose of serving as a common voice for the business community, we have been able to funnel our effort and energies into a variety of worthwhile and welcome activities.
The Chamber of Commerce was instrumental in achieving a unified telephone service for all of Glenpool. Prior to the Chamber's involvement and effort, Glenpool was divided by 141st street into two calling zones. Long distance charges were incurred in calling from one side of the street to the other. After successfully petitioning the Oklahoma Corporation Commission and Southwestern Bell Telephone, we now experience toll free calling to metropolitan Tulsa, including Broken Arrow.
The Chamber has taken an active role in informing the public about issues facing our country and community. Several public forums have been sponsored by the Chamber to enable the public to be informed about current issues as well as to meet and converse with the policy makers of our government of various levels. Local level elections have benefited by the many Candidate forums also sponsored by the Chamber.
