Pawnee First Baptist Church was organized in October, 1898, with eleven charter members in a private home near Black Bear Creek and Agency Road. After meeting in several different places, the first section of the present building at 720 Sixth Street was completed in 1963. Two additions have been added in recent years. With a history of service to our community, weekly ministries are provided to the Pawnee County Jail and Southern Oaks Care Center. Also, an annual Thanksgiving meal is provided for the community on the Monday evening before Thanksgiving Day each year. Christmas and Easter programs incorporating music and drama, summer camps and Vacation Bible School for children, and an active program of Youth activities have provided involvement for all ages for many years. Mission trips to South Dakota and Alaska, plus individual medical mission involvement in West Africa have kept the cause of reaching the world for Christ a constant priority for over a century
