Croton Township Campground is on Croton Pond, just above Croton Dam.  We are fortunate to be able to offer some of Michigan’s most beautiful scenery, abundant wildlife and many outdoor experiences.  Within the Campground, we have a beach, 3 pavillions, 2 boat launches and 2 playgrounds, and picnic facilities.   Many activities are planned all summer long, including Christmas in July, Harvest Weekend, and more.   The Croton community is home to other events going on throughout the year, including the Dam to Dam Ice Fishing Contest in February each year, and the North American Ice Fishing Circuit regional qualifier in March, the Hookin’ up Heroes Pro/Am Veteran Tournament (fishing) and motorcycle poker run in June each year, the Fourth of July parade and fireworks (Always on Saturday of the 4th of July weekend).  Croton Twp was also the starting point for the 2011 U S Canoe and Kayak Association’s championship, hosted by Newaygo Nationals, in August 2011.   This competition will be coming back, in August 2013.  If you stay at the Campground, you are right in the middle of all the action. Our friendly staff can direct you to the restaurants, postal services, bank, canoe livery and other businesses in the area.  Check out our “Area Businesses” link to see names and location.   Nearby you will find Conklin Park, which features a frisbee golf course, tennis courts, a softball field, playground equipment, volleyball court, picnic facilities and a pavilion.  Across the pond from the Campground there are two free boat ramps:  one at Charles Besemer Tailwater Park, below Croton Dam on the Muskegon River, and Al DuChemin Park, which allows boaters to put in above Croton Dam on Croton Pond.  Al DuChemin Park also offers picnic facilities. The Muskegon River and Croton Pond offer opportunities to enjoy many water sports including water skiing/boarding, tubing, canoeing/paddling, fishing and boating.    The Croton area also offers beautifully wooded Federal and State land for hunting and hiking.   Four hiking trails are within a short distance of the campground:  North Country Trail, which comes up from the south into Tailwater Park, the Conklin Park Nature trail at Conklin Park, The Hardy Dam Nature Trail just above Hardy Dam, and Coolbough Nature Preserve, approximately 6 miles west on Croton Road.
