Mission

COCA works on behalf of the community to support a vibrant quality of life in Leon County. Through its programs, COCA continually seeks ways to promote the area's diverse range of cultural events and traditions. Through innovative partnerships with community and educational groups, COCA seeks to enrich and improve the lives of citizens and visitors alike.

Tallahassee-Leon County Cultural Resources Commission (CRC) was established in 1985 as a non-profit organization to serve the cultural needs of Florida's Capital Region, and was designated as local arts agency by the City of Tallahassee, Leon County, and the State of Florida. In 2006 the organization began doing business as the Council on Culture and Arts (COCA) for Tallahassee and Leon County to better reflect its mission.

COCA is committed to promoting arts and culture in all its forms, including visual, performing, literary, and media arts, museums, and arts education. Our professional staff and board of directors serve as a community resource to advocate for and support arts and culture in the region.

COCA's members include non-profit and commercial galleries, museums, theatres, music groups, dance companies, festivals, film/video companies, historic sites, educational organizations, and individual artists, as well as businesses and individuals interested in supporting local cultural activities.
