"The primary function of the council office is to provide staff assistance to each individual council member and their constituencies with the highest degree of professionalism, understanding and competence."
Professionalism: It is our objective to consistently maintain a high degree of professionalism in our office function, and to promote and encourage continuous improvement of our services and work product.
Understanding: Of the utmost importance for our professional function is the understanding of: council member's requests, constituent matters, local governmental issues, council issues, up-to-date and timely management practices, renewed resources, the public trust, shared responsibility, workplace rules and regulations, staff interaction, and high standards of honesty, objectivity and integrity.
Competence: It is our intention to encourage, promote, and maintain competent and continuous career objectives such as: competitive training, education, recognition of staff, review of effective office models, updating governmental resources, improving staff and management performance, and consistent application of office rules and policy.
Our purpose is to provide quality services to the citizens of the City of Providence within the parameters of the Providence Home Rule Charter, as well as the Code of Ordinances of the City of Providence. We are guided by leadership and council members to assist with the needs of the constituents of our city. Through harmonious teamwork, we will strive to serve the city council and the residents of Providence in good faith, be accountable for our actions, and work diligently to enhance the lives of each citizen.
