Welcome to Chaplin Elementary School and our web page! We are located in Chaplin, Connecticut - a rural town with a population of approximately 2,500. Chaplin Elementary School is a school of about 235 students in grades Preschool - 6. The "Classrooms" link on our web page gives you an opportunity to view all of our classrooms. It also provides a link for contacting any of our staff members.
At Chaplin Elementary School, we have many terrific programs to offer our students. All students have two physical education classes each week, as well as one health, art and music class. Our older students have the opportunity to sign-up for instrumental music lessons, chorus, band and drama. Our school has a Talented and Gifted program to help meet the many diverse learning needs and styles of our students. To assist some of our younger students, we have an Early Intervention Reading Program. Other students receive support from our Math and Reading Specialists, Speech and Language Pathologist, Special Education teachers, School Social Worker, and Occupational and Physical therapists.
Through a School Readiness Grant, we've been able to expand our existing Preschool program to a program that accommodates thirty-two 3 & 4 year olds. The parents of our Preschool students have the option of sending them to school for either a half-day or full-day program.
The students at Chaplin Elementary School are also encouraged to take part in the many after school programs that we offer. These after school enrichment activities include: gymnastics, crafts, scrap booking, drawing & painting, LEGO building, and World Class Readers. Staff members lead these after school programs, which run in three sessions throughout the school year.
