Mission:

The Chambers County School System, in partnership with parents and the community, is dedicated to producing skilled, responsible graduates by providing and supporting high quality, highly effective public schools.

About Chambers County Schools : Our school system, under the leadership of the Chambers County Board of Education and Superintendent of Education Leonard Riley, is committed to "creating lifelong learners" who can function successfully in today's and tomorrow's workplace and world.

The Chambers County Board of Education operates 11 schools in the Valley and LaFayette, Alabama areas, including six elementary, two middle, two secondary schools and a 100-percent business/industry certified career technical center. Nine of our 10 regular schools are SACS accredited and the 10th school is working on its accreditation.

During the past 10 years, we have completed over $40 million in capital improvements to school properties including two state-of-the-art high school media centers, new music buildings and additions and/or improvements at almost every school.

We are making great strides to stay on the cutting edge of the latest technology to adequately prepare our students for tomorrow's job market. In our classrooms, the ratio of the number of students with access to computers and technology is better than the state average. Our new website, with links to every school and web pages for every teacher and department, is one example of our use of technology to communicate more efficiently with our students, parents and the public.

Among the programs in place to improve achievement and meet the requirements of No Child Left Behind are the Reading First program and Alabama Reading Initiative in our elementary schools, TEAM-Math, a hands-on approach to mathematics, the DIBELS assessment for Grades 1-3, and pre-kindergarten classes in five elementary schools. Our high schools are improving their graduation exam passing rate in core subjects and supplement their academic curriculum with art, drama, music, horticulture, well-rounded athletic programs and extracurricular activities. Children with special needs are served through co-teaching opportunities and individualized education plans. After-school remediation programs and the New Directions Learning Center provide learning opportunities and incentives for at-risk students to stay in school and succeed. Our ever-changing career technical center includes innovative programs in information technology, automotive technology, environmental management, aquaculture, cosmetology, health science, business/marketing, horticulture, and building construction.
