About:
The Central Virginia Wine Festival is an event hosted and organized by the Richmond Chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association. It is their signature fund raiser for financial need-based, academic scholarships awarded to Richmond area Virginia Tech students. Additionally, proceeds from this event help support other student and alumni programs throughout Richmond.
The event was founded in 2005 with its first festival held in 2006 at the Columbian Center in Henrico County. The event was moved to Innsbrook Pavilion in 2007 (now known as the SnagAJob Pavilion at Innsbrook) and featured 12 wineries from around Virginia, 3 live bands, and approximately two dozen specialty-item vendors. As a result of the success of the 2007 Central Virginia Wine Festival, the event received the “Outstanding Fundraising Event” award from the Virginia Tech Alumni Association that year. The event has continued to grow over the years and has become one of the most reputable and popular wine festivals around Virginia amongst participating wineries, vendors, and its attendees.
