About
We are a small town full of frinedly, interesting people who love living here and who are uniting to see it grow. We live in a peaceful area of the Tularosa Basin surrounded by the natural beauty of the high desert open spaces, ranch land, the Sacramentos and San Andres Mountain ranges. To the West is the Valley of Fires, an ancient lava flow, the Mal Pais, which is perfect for camping and viewing the glorious night sky.
Carrizozo has a growing artist community, The Tularosa Basin Gallery of Photography is the largest in the State exclusively featuring images of New Mexico. In August of 2016 Carrizozo was listed as a 'National Historic Business District'. Our growing library will be home to the Lincoln County Historic Archives, a vast resource for history buffs.
When you visit Carrizozo, make sure you stop by the Visitors Center located in the Caboose at the corner of Central Ave. (Highway 54) and Airport road, just one block south of the Highway 54 & Highway 380 intersection. The Visitor's Center is open at various times because it is staffed only by a great group of Chamber of Commerce volunteers. There you can find all the information you need about Carrizozo and the surrounding areas, or just stop by to say "HI" and sign our guest book.
