Birch Creek Farms is located in scenic western Atoka County, along the Clear Boggy River and Birch Creek. The rich, fertile, sandy loam soils deposited by these two drainages provide the ideal environment for forage production, as well as fruit and vegetable production. We utilized "sustainable agriculture" and organic practices to produce the highest quality, grass-fed beef, lamb, and farm fresh produce available.
Located near the town of Wapanucka, our farm consists of approximately 700 diverse acres, both leased and owned, that have been in our family for four generations. At Birch Creek Farms, we grow a wide variety of vegetables, fruits, herbs, and grass fed lamb and beef. Many of these fruits and vegetable varieties were grown on the farm by our earlier generations.
With the purchase of a season's membership, each member receives a weekly share of our farm's harvest, as well as recipes and other information. We provide healthy, in-season vegetables and fruit from the farm. Share size varies according to subscription. A Full Share is 3/4 to 1 bushel which is enough to provide fresh vegetables to a family of four for a week. Medium shares are also available.
The cost of a full share is $550 and a medium share is $400. We supply a minimum of 20 weeks of fresh, seasonal produce scheduled to begin May 23rd and end October 3rd. For 2010, we will begin the season with leafy greens, such as spinach, lettuce, Swiss chard, arugula, collards, and mustard greens. Other early vegetables include onions, potatoes, radishes, carrots, peas, and beets. Crops coming later in the spring and summer include yellow squash, zucchini, cucumbers, eggplant, tomatoes (heirloom, beefsteak, and grape varieties), several varieties of bell peppers and hot peppers, okra, sweet corn, green beans, purple hull peas and cream peas, watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew melon, winter squash, and pumpkins. We also have Indian corn, decorative gourds, and other fall ornamentals available in Autumn.
New members are welcomed at any time. Membership prices are prorated if the season has already begun. For additional information or for membership availability, contact us today at
