Founded in September 2012, the Berkeley Community Chorus is a mixed ensemble of adult singers serving Berkeley County and the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. Its motto, "A Singing Social Network," represents the purpose of building community in the county and within the membership of the choir. The circular shape of the choir's logo represents that ongoing process. The logo colors represent each of the current county high schools. Current members reside throughout the county and comprise a wide range of ages and musical backgrounds. The chorus is open to singers 18 years of age and older. The ability to read music is desired but not required. Auditions for new members are held in the fall and spring followed by ten weekly rehearsals and a public performance. Concert repertoire includes classical, folk and spiritual, popular and Broadway medleys. The BCC was recently awarded two Amplify the Arts grants from the Berkeley Arts Council with funding from the West Virginia Commission on the Arts.
