About us: Bath City Rollergirls (BCRG) is a skater-owned and operated LLC operating a women's roller derby league out of Macomb County, MI. The league is practicing and playing at Joe Dumars Fieldhouse in Shelby Township, MI. The skaters of BCRG are a diverse group of strong and motivated women who train hard, respect their teammates and love the sport of roller derby. Our committed skaters work to increase their skill levels through discipline, hard work and dedication.
Our Mission: Bath City Rollergirls strive to create a full-contact sport that inspires women and girls while giving back to the community that supports us. We will work to be fully sponsored and financially sound as we support local charities and non-profit organizations.
We Are: Women who skate, because we love it! BCRG is populated with women from around Metro Detroit and beyond, representing a wide range of ages, backgrounds and occupations. Everyone involved with BCRG - skaters, coaches, referees and non-skating officials (NSOs) are volunteers. Each skater must provide her own equipment, pay dues to participate and pay her own travel expenses. All funds generated by the league are used to cover operating costs.
Why are we "Bath City"? BCRG was formerly located in Mt Clemens, MI, which, interstingly enough, was the premier spot for mineral baths many years ago. According to the official City of Mt Clemens website, "During the 1870's, the attempts to develop salt wells had proved unsuccessful, but resulted in the famed mineral waters. Soon, a mineral bath industry flourished that made Mount Clemens famous throughout the world as a health spa."
