he ATA was established in 1969 by Haeng Ung Lee, a Korean immigrant who had a dream of making the world a better place through the discipline of the martial art of Taekwondo. Now known as Eternal Grandmaster, H.U. Lee began with one tiny school in Omaha, Nebraska and then built an international organization, headquartered in Little Rock, Arkansas, that supports more than 1000 locations in North America, 19 of which are here in Phoenix. The ATA provides curriculum development, instructor certification, and sanctions for tournament competition and rank advancement. Although Eternal Grandmaster Lee is no longer with us, the ATA has remained strong under the leadership of our new Grandmaster, Soon Ho Lee, 9th degree black belt. With almost 300,000 members worldwide, the ATA is indeed making the world a better place, one black belt at a time.
