The Augusta Richmond County Historical Society was founded in 1946 to collect, preserve and publish local history. To this end, the society's historical and genealogical research materials are available in the special collections area of Reese Library at augusta state university. The Society is committed to publishing original or out of print publications every two years.
Members are invited to attend four meetings a year on various topics of local history given by historians, lecturers and authors. Receptions are held after each meeting for speakers and networking among members.
Auguta Richmond county history is published twice early and contains articles written by Augusta authors and historians about the history of Augusta, Georgia and the CSRA.
As a non-profit organization, the Society relies upon membership dues, corporate contributions, memorial gifts and book sales for funding. Membership and gifts are essential to the continued success of the organization because thee funds provide a significant part of our operating budge. All gifts are tax deductible.
