What is ArtsGreensboro?

Thanks to businesses, foundations, and thousands of arts enthusiasts like you, ArtsGreensboro financially  supports more than 50 arts organizations and projects each year, connects the public to arts and entertainment, and financially supports the area arts scene through grants, marketing support and other important initiatives and services.

ArtsGreensboro advocates for the arts in a variety of ways on both local and state levels. In partnership with the High Point Area Arts Council, an Advocacy Task Force has been formed to advocate for arts in education, and support from city, county and state support for the arts in our community.

Each spring, we seek volunteers and members of the arts community to participate in Arts Day– a two-day effort led by Arts NC to bring delegations from around the state to meet one-on-one with legislators and request funding for the arts through the NC Arts Council. Each year, the ArtsGreensboro receives vital funding from the NC Arts Council through the Grassroots and Regional Artists grants programs.

Founded in 1962 by community leaders as Greensboro’s arts council, ArtsGreensboro has invested nearly $20 million as direct financial support into Greensboro’s arts economy through grants. But the organization has always contributed much more than grants alone. Through the years, the arts council saved the historic Carolina Theatre, created Center City’s Cultural Arts Center, produced the exciting City Stage Festival, and as it has for more than 40 years, operates the Sternberger Artist Center with 16 studios on Summit Avenue in the historic Sternberger House.

With a budget of nearly $1.8 million a year, ArtsGreensboro is driving new initiatives to grow support for the arts. Through 17 DAYS Arts & Culture Festival, power2give.org and other opportunities in the future, ArtsGreensboro is driving the health and vitality of our community through support for arts education, celebrating the diversity of Greensboro, and supporting economic impact through excellence in arts programming
