About Us:
What started out in the basement of Annemarie Fairhurst's home in Ashland over 30 years ago has grown into a respectable, well established dance studio with hundreds of students taking class every year. The studio emphasizes the importance of a well-rounded dancer. Students may choose from ballet, modern, jazz, tap, hip hop (11 and older) and pointe (for those who qualify). The recreational students and our more serious dancers work and take class together with the understanding that all of our students share the same importance in the classroom.
Annemarie's Dance Centre embraces both the serious and recreational dance student, providing a quality dance education in all disciplines. Our overarching philosophy is to strive for one's personal best in a fun and nurturing atmosphere. Students leave our school with a creative sense of themselves. They value the importance dance plays in their lives and the artistic community at large. Studying dance at Annemarie's promotes self-confidence, passion, and goal-oriented success through performing.
The centre has 3 dance studios with a sprung marley floor, 3 waiting rooms, ample parking, viewing windows, central AC for our hot months and most importantly a supportive environment where our students can grow.
For students that are interested in a more immersive dance program the studio offers The Movement Project Performance Company for those who are technically qualified and ready to commit. Students are accepted into the program through an audition process.
Our typical season runs the beginning of September through mid-May with the opportunity to take summer classes and/or enrichment sessions for those that are interested. Our season culminates with an end or the year recital for those that are interested in performing. The recital is not mandatory.
