AAPACT is a not-for-profit community theatrical company that has produced a wide variety of thought provoking theatrical pieces not normally produced in South Florida. AAPACT produced its first production The Island written by Athol Fugard in 2001. The Island featured is founder Teddy Harrell, Jr. in the role of John and directed by AAPACT's Co-founder Andre' L. Gainey. AAPACT produced The Island at the Liberty Square Public Housing Auditorium. AAPACT would go on to stage several other productions over the following 6 years. AAPACT tackled such shows as Riff Raff written by Laurence Fishbourne and the musical Once On This Island. AAPACT would move to Charles Hadley Black Box Theatre for its next productions : Having Our Say-The First 100 Years of the Delaney Sisters-Charles Hadley Black Box Theatre, Sizwe Banzi is Dead, King Hedley II and The Taking of Miss Janie. Founded by Teddy Harrell, Jr, AAPACT has not only utilized inner city space to present quality theatre, but has consistently made these performances available to non-traditional audiences as well as employed South Florida's many black theatre professionals. AAPACT's latest production Stories About The Old Days opensat the African Heritage Cultural Arts Center 6161 NW 22nd Avenue in the Wendell Narcisse Theatre on February 27 - March 16, 2008.
