History:
In the mid 90's professional actors different challenges. Beginning in 1988 when Josie Abady dissolved the Cleveland Play House company, actors found themselves in the minority when shows at the Play House and Great Lakes were being cast. There were even instances of actors flying to New York to audition for plays being produced in Cleveland.
When we started Actors' Summit we started with a Mission Statement that tried to address the problem: The mission of Actors' Summit is to present professional theater created by Ohio artists for the entertainment and enrichment of our diverse community.
Our goal was, and continues to be, to create an artistic home for Ohio artists. We define "Ohio Artists" broadly to include Ohio natives, artists who have moved to Ohio to study theater, and actors who have established themselves here in Ohio as the result of their work with regional theaters over a period of years.
