2023 YOUNG SHOOTS CONTEST LAUNCHESON JUNE 22. CALLING ALL YOUNG PHOTOGRAPHERS

Westport, CT - Westport Farmers’ Market (WFM) in partnership with The Artists Collective of Westport and the Drew Friedman Community Arts Center, is pleased to announce the 7th annual Young Shoots Photography Contest running June 22 - August 3, 2023.

Young Shoots invites kids to demonstrate their love for local food and appreciation of their local farmers’ market through the digital lens. Budding young photographers take pictures at WFM and submit their photos into a friendly competition by age groups 5-9, 10-14 and 15-18.

Submitted photographs will be judged per age group awards by a panel of local artists. An art opening for all Young Shoots photographers will be held in Auguest on Gilbertie’s Herb Gardens’ front lawn with Sugar & Olives catering the event and where the awards will be announced!

Renowned local artist and Young Shoots Co-chair Miggs Burroughs reflected, "It was Drew Friedman's dream to enrich the lives of young people through the arts and "Young Shoots" is a shining example of that mission".

“This program embodies WFM’s commitment to building community. We are excited for the return of this super-popular program this year and adore seeing the budding photographer decorate the market with their cameras.” said Lori Cochran-Dougall, executive director of WFM.

WFM team members will be on hand at the Market throughout the contest to answer your questions.

Age group winners will receive cash prizes and an opportunity to attend an art class at MoCA of Westport.
