Please do not leave any books at the shed at the West Tisbury School or at the West Tisbury Library. All of our Storage is FULL!

Meeting Rooms

Private meeting rooms can be booked for 45 minutes beginning at the top of the hour, Monday through Saturday, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM with a reservation. Reservations must be made online here.

Learning Lab

Teens and kids ages 12+ are invited to the Young Adult Room after school for Learning Lab. Learning Lab is open Mondays-Fridays from 3-5pm. Email Young Adult Librarian Laura Hearn with any questions: [email protected].

Monday, May 1st At 11:30 Am: Virtual Balance Class (online via Zoom)

Kanta Lipsky will continue her virtual Balance Classes on Mondays and Fridays at 11:30 AM. In this class, we will explore ways to strengthen our connection to the earth and increase our bodies’ ability to maintain good balance. A chair will be necessary for some of the movements. Email [email protected] to join.

Monday, May 1st At 3:00-5:00 Pm: Switch Games In The Ya Room (in-person)
On Mondays from 3-5pm, join us for Switch Games in the Young Adults Room. This program is for ages 8+. Free and open the public!

Monday, May 1st From 3:30-5:00 Pm: Microscope Monday
Come learn how to use the microscope with naturalist Elliott Bennett and  explore the microscopic world. WTL will supply the microscope, all you have to bring is your curiosity.  ( if you have a microscope you can bring it if you like) This is an intergenerational offering. All ages welcome.

Monday, may 1st at 6:00 pm “meditation and beyond with Eliott S. Dacher M.D. (in-person)

••• Elliott S. Dacher, M.D. will lead a five session course on meditation. Meditation is an age-old contemplative practice that has two aims. The first is to improve the quality of day-to-day life – less stress, reactivity, distress, suffering, and enhanced well-being. The second, and most profound aim, is to enable us to go beyond our ordinary life to that “proverbial “more to life.” This requires an approach that is direct and effortlessly simple.
Each session will include a presentation, practice, discussion, and helpful resources Those who complete the course will be on the path to a larger and more satisfying life. Class dates are April 17, April 24, May 1, May 15, and May 22

Tuesday, May 2nd At 5 Pm: Knitting GROUP (in-person)
All are welcome to join the library’s Knitting Group on Tuesdays at 5pm. Join librarian Lyn for a relaxing hour of creativity and conversation. Help yourself to supplies provided by the library or bring your own supplies from home or another project you are working on. This group is open to adults and teens, and all levels are welcome. No sign up is required.

Wednesday, May 3rd At 7:30 Am: Chair Yoga And Meditation Class (online via Zoom)

•••    All levels and ages are invited to chair yoga and meditation led by Jason Mazar-Kelly (YogiJay) on Wednesdays. In this class, participants will be guided through seated and moving meditations utilizing the support and assistance of a chair. All you will need for this class is an armless chair and a place to put it. Please click here to sign up.

Wednesday, May 3rd At 10:30, Traditional Storytime (in-person)
•••  Children’s librarian, Mikaela, will be hosting a weekly  traditional storytime. Families will be able to listen and enjoy books new and old with some songs thrown in the mix. All ages are welcome but this storytime is designed for toddlers and young kids.

Wednesday, May 3rd From 11 Am - 1 Pm: Digital Navigation Assistance (in-person, by appointment)
•••   Digital Navigation Technology Assistance is available by appointment Wednesdays from 11am-1pm. Do you need help navigating the internet, using a smartphone or tablet, or other technology questions? Email r[email protected] to set up an appointment. Appointments are limited to 20 minutes, once a week. 

Wednesday, May 3rd At 11:30-1:00, Spring Into  Wellbeing: An Energy Strengthening Class With Shanta Gabriel (on-line)
•••  As we move into the spring season, it is a good time for revitalization. In this class you will learn: Self-healing tools and simple, fun and empowering energetic exercises to allow more calm agility into your lifestyle to —provide balance, healing energy, relaxation, and uplifted awareness strengthening your understanding to the important connection to the electromagnetic energy field around your body. We will also learn breath and meditative practices to help you feel more- centered, equanimous, discrimination for emotional balance, resilient and resourceful. Wednesday, May 3rd At 3 Pm: Virtual Reality For Tweens & Teens (in-person)
•••   Join us Wednesdays from 3-5 pm for VR in the Young Adult Room. The library’s Oculus VR will be set up for 10-15 minute of use per person with age appropriate games. This program is for ages 10-18. Please sign-up once you arrive.

Wednesday, May 3rd At 4:00 Pm: Card Club For All Ages (in-person)
•••  Join us for our  weekly Card Club! Every Wednesday at the library we will host a club for people who love to play cards or are interested in learning. Open to all ages and skill levels. Come and share your favorite games or learn a  new one, everything from Go Fish to Canasta!
