The New CLAMS Catalog is Here! 

CLAMS Libraries have selected Aspen Discovery, a new user-friendly catalog designed to make it easier than ever to find and borrow materials from the library! This powerful new search engine includes features like predictive search text, curated lists, personalized recommendations, and greater control over your user account.

- The password/PIN you use to access your CLAMS account and library apps has changed to the last four digits of the phone number on your CLAMS account. (You can reset your PIN to a number or password you prefer to use.)

- The web address will stay the same, library.clamsnet.org, or visit vineyard-haven.clamsnet.org/

- If you checkout eBooks using Overdrive or Libby apps, you may need to re-enter your new password the first time you checkout.

- If you have opted in to save your reading history in the current CLAMs catalog, your reading history will be transferred to the new system, however you will need to “opt in” again, and your history may not be transferred immediately.

Dirtbag, Mass: An Evening with Isaac Fitzgerald

Join us for a very special author event!  Isaac Fitzgerald has lived many lives. He's been an altar boy, a bartender, a fat kid, a smuggler, a biker, a prince of New England. But before all that, he was a bomb that exploded his parents' lives-or so he was told. In his new book Dirtbag, Massachusetts, Fitzgerald, with warmth and humor, recounts his ongoing search for forgiveness, a more far-reaching vision of masculinity, and a more expansive definition of family and self. 

Fitzgerald appears frequently on The Today Show and is also the author of the bestselling children’s book How to Be a Pirate as well as the co-author of Pen & Ink: Tattoos and the Stories Behind Them and Knives & Ink: Chefs and the Stories Behind Their Tattoos. His writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Atlantic, Esquire, The Guardian, The Best American Nonrequired Reading, and numerous other publications. He is Boston born, raised in Athol, and currently lives in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Chair Yoga is one of the most gentle forms of yoga. This class is perfect for students recovering from injury or illness, and anyone who wants to experience the many benefits of yoga without having to get up and down from the floor. These sessions will focus on yoga for people who are seeking relief from arthritis. In-person in the basement meeting room.

A new take on a cookbook group, Spice Club meets virtually one Tuesday a month. Registration comes with a sample pack of the spice of the month and a little history about it. You prepare a recipe and then come and discuss your opinions, experiences, and love (or like less!). This month's herb is Fennel Seed.

On Memoir Writing, with Nancy Slonim Aronie
Come hear a short talk and an even shorter reading, plus a Q&A about memoir writing with our Island's own Nancy Slonim Aronie. Nancy has been a commentator for National Public Radio’s All Things Considered. She was a Visiting Writer at Trinity College in Hartford, CT, wrote a monthly column in McCall’s magazine and was the recipient of the Eye of The Beholder Artist in Residence award at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. Nancy won teacher of the year award for all three years she taught at Harvard University for Robert Coles. This will be an in-person event and will not be recorded.

Writing Workshop with Moira Silva
Isn't it time you told your story? Through a blend of exercises, readings, and discussions, writers will connect with their writing and themselves. Participants will form a supportive community while sharing in-process work, with the group honoring whatever is created — whether it is an essay,song, letter, or entirely new genres. Writers will leave the course lighter in spirit and richer in purpose. Workshop lead by Moira Silva via Zoom Tuesdays starting March 14th until April 11th.

Janet Mandel taught in New Jersey’s public schools for 32 years, where she taught English, art history, World Languages and Cultures. Now retired, Janet presents illustrated talks on a variety of art history topics at adult schools, libraries, museums, senior centers, community centers, and similar venues. Live Virtual Tour: How Women Won the Vote

The 19th Amendment: A Virtual Tour with the National Constitution Center

A National Constitution Center museum educator will lead viewers on a LIVE guided tour of the Center's newest exhibit that traces the triumphs and struggles leading to the ratification of the 19th Amendment. The tour will help viewers to better understand the long fight for women's suffrage, and will also highlight some of the many women who transformed constitutional history - including Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Alice Paul, and Ida B. Wells. Plus, viewers will get an up-close look at some of the one-of-a-kind artifacts on display, including a ballot box used to collect women's votes in the 1800s and Pennsylvania's ratification copy of the 19th Amendment.
