The Valdez Ice Climbing Festival is an annual event supported by the American Alpine Club and Access Fund. It helps us support our mission which is to care for and build trails as well as provide outdoor rec education through clinics and workshops! Come Send it with us in 2023!!!

Thursday February 16, 2023

Pre-Event Activity:

6:30pm: Early registration/check-in at the airport. Puddle Jumpers open for food and drink.

7:30pm-10:00pm: Local band. Cheap Suites, in the airport ballroom.

Friday February 17, 2023

9:30am: Registration and gear check-out at the airport.

10:00am - 4:00pm: Climbing in the canyon. Free clinics at the airport.

5:00pm-6:00pm: Gear return at the airport.

5:00pm - 8:00pm: Registration/check-in at Valdez Brewery. Join us for some locally brewed beer, fire pits, and get a chance to meet fellow climbers and instructors.

Saturday February 18, 2023

7:00am: Puddle Jumpers open for breakfast and coffee.

7:15am-8:30am: Check-in and gear rental.

8:45am: Bus departs from the airport, drop-off at Bridarveil pullout.

9:30am -12:30pm: Mormnfi clinics.

12:45pm: Bus departs from the canyon, drop-off at Brldatveil pullout.

1:30pm: Bus departs from the canyon, drop-off at the airport.

1:30pm-4:30pm: Afternoon clinics.

4:45pm: Bus departs from the canyon, drop-off at the airport.

5:00pm - 6:00pm: Gear return at the airport.

7:00pm: Kevin Lindau and Katie McKinstry present "A Line Above the Sky" in the airport ballroom.

8:30pm: Presentation and slideshow for Brian Teal, local climbing legend and original founder of the Valdez Ice Climbing Festival, presented by his climbing partners.

9:30pm: Dance party with DJ High Tide.

Sunday February 19, 2023

7:00am: Puddle Jumpers open for breakfast and coffee.

7:15am-8:30am: Check-in and gear rental.

8:45am: Bus departs from the airport, drop-off at Bridarveil pullout.

9:30am - 12:30pm: Morning clinics.

12:45pm: Bus departs from the canyon, drop-off at Bridalveil pullout.

1:30pm: Bus departs from the canyon, drop-off at the airport.

1:30pm-4:30pm: Afternoon clinics.

4:45pm: Bus departs from the canyon, drop-off at the airport.

5:00pm - 6:00pm: Gear return at the airport.

6:30pm - 7:00pm: Firepits and pizza at Growler Bay or Valdez Brewery.
