From: Florida OrchestraSaint Petersburg, FL - For its largest concert of the year, The Florida Orchestra will bring the annual Raymond James Pops in the Park concert to Vinoy Park along St. Petersburg’s waterfront on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 7:30 pm. TFO Resident Conductor Chelsea Gallo will conduct free music under the stars, from classical favorites to film scores. The night wraps up with Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture and a patriotic finale.
Please note: Due to logistical issues, the encore performance of Pops in the Park at River Tower Park in Tampa has a new date: Sunday, Nov. 5, at 6:30 pm.
Every year more than 15,000 fans and families pack Vinoy Park, spreading out blankets and elaborate picnics. Food trucks from the Gulf to Bay Food Truck Association and Mookie’s Kettle Corn also will be on site. Starting at 6 pm, pre-concert performances include the St. Petersburg Community Band and The Big Sing with The Master Chorale of Tampa Bay, an audience sing-along of popular favorites and American standards.
This year’s family-friendly Raymond James Pops in the Park concerts celebrate “Heroes and Legends,” with John Williams’ music from Indiana Jones and the Lost Ark and Superman, Badelt’s Pirates of the Caribbean, Strauss’ Also Sprach Zarathustra (Theme from 2001: A Space Odyssey) and more.
