Lowcountry Quarterly Arts Grants Program

$2,000 Artist and Organization Grants

The Lowcountry Quarterly Arts Grants Program (LQAGP) is intended to support arts organizations and projects that reflect artistic excellence and events which are well-advertised and open to the public. The LQAGP provides assistance for professional or career development for individual artists and staff of cultural organizations in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester Counties. 

A select number of grants up to $2,000 each will be awarded on March 15th for projects taking place between April 1st and June 30th. Applicants may receive only two quarterly grants per fiscal year (July 1- June 30).

Current Recipient - Annex Dance Company

On February 11, 2023, Annex Dance Company will present a concert inspired by the work of Aiken-based visual artist Leslie Alexander. The concert will include three pieces of the company repertory: 'Glimpses & Layers' (2015), 'Behind, Beyond, Between' (2021), and 'Hover' (2022), which premiered during the 2022 Piccolo Spoleto Festival. 'Hover' has an original commissioned musical score by Laura Ball and costume design by Janine McCabe, both Charleston-based artists. In addition, the concert will premiere a new work that was started while in-residence at Camp Ballibay for the Fine and Performing Arts entitled 'Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter'. NY-based sound and multimedia artist John Jannone created arrangements of Vivaldi’s 'Four Seasons' for the piece and will be performed in a costume design by Janine McCabe. Dancing with the company in this concert are guest performers Cathy Cabaniss (company member 2011-2019), Leslie Jones (guest performer 2017 & 2022), and, in 'Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter', students from Dance Moves of Charleston.
