From: Delaware Governor Matt MeyerWILMINGTON - On April 17, 2025, Governor Matt Meyer released the following statement regarding the State Senate’s confirmation of two of the governor’s judicial nominees, the Honorable Eric M. Davis for Superior Court President Judge and Meghann O’Reilly Karasic for New Castle County Family Court Commissioner. Both Judge Davis and Karasic were sworn-in immediately following their confirmations.
“I want to thank the Delaware Senate for confirming Judge Eric Davis and Meghann O’Reilly Karasic to serve in our judiciary. Both have built careers rooted in legal excellence, fairness, and public service. Their confirmations are a win for justice, for the people of Delaware, and for the strength of our legal system,” said Governor Meyer. “A strong judiciary is essential—it protects rights, ensures accountability, and builds trust in our institutions. With these confirmations, Delaware’s courts are stronger and better equipped to serve all our communities. I congratulate both President Judge Davis and Commissioner Karasic and look forward to the positive impact they will continue to make on our State.”
About the Appointees:
President Judge Eric M. Davis
President Judge Eric M. Davis earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia in 1985 and graduated with honors from Emory University School of Law in 1992. He began his legal career at Miles & Stockbridge, P.C. in Baltimore, Maryland, before joining Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in 1996, where he became a partner. In April 2010, President Judge Davis was appointed to the Court of Common Pleas of Delaware, serving until his appointment to the Superior Court in 2012.
During his tenure on the Superior Court, President Judge Davis has presided over numerous complex cases and has been recognized for his fair and balanced approach to the law. Notably, he chaired the Complex Commercial Litigation Division, handling intricate business disputes and reinforcing Delaware’s reputation as a premier venue for corporate litigation.
Commissioner Meghann O’Reilly Karasic
Commissioner Meghann O’Reilly Karasic received her B.A. in government and politics from the University of Maryland in 2007 and received her J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2010, where she was awarded the community service award for her work on social justice, human rights, and public interest outreach.
After law school, Commissioner Karasic worked as a staff attorney and then as managing attorney for the Law Offices of Women in Need, a civil law project serving survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in central Pennsylvania. She subsequently moved to Delaware in 2016, where she worked at Community Legal Aid Society, Inc., in Wilmington, as supervising attorney for housing and fair housing, then as managing attorney of the immigration, domestic violence, and medical legal partnership programs. Since 2023, the Commissioner has worked as an assistant public defender for the Delaware Office of Defense Services, where her practice has focused on representing justice-involved youth at all stages of litigation.
Commissioner Karasic is admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of Delaware, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, and the United States District Court for the District of Delaware.
