New Year, New Things to Explore!
Welcome 2023 by exploring some of Trenton’s many attractions and check out the variety of events happening in and around the downtown area. When the days are shorter and the weather colder, we are reminded how fortunate we are to have a lively cultural district where we can learn, discover and play.

A Vision for Trenton Youth Exhibit, Silent Auction and Reception
PRESENTED BY: Henry J. Austin Health Center & Artworks Trenton
LOCATION: 19 Everett Alley, Trenton
Enjoy live music, complimentary wine & hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, plus an Ink & Drink workshop led by Kate Eggleston Art. The event is free but a donation is welcome.
100% of the proceeds will directly fund free vision screenings, exams, and eyeglasses for students at Trenton Public Schools through our partnership with Vision to Learn. We hope to see you there!

Black Man; Heal series will host “Laugh Black Man, Cry Black Boy,” an engaging and interactive discussion around mental health for Black men and boys.

Small Explorers: Planetarium/Our Star and The Planets That Love Her

This month in our Small Explorers program we’re attending a planetarium showing of “Little Star That Could.” We’ll meet our star, the Sun, and the eight planets that keep her company. Make your own telescope and look into the sky. The book will be “The Sun Is My Favorite Star” by Frank Asch. You’re in for a trip out of this world!

New Jersey Arts Annual: Reemergence Artists Talk Series
PRESENTED BY: NJ State Museum
LOCATION: NJ State Museum, 205 W State St., Trenton
Join us for a free lunchtime talk with artists featured in the “New Jersey Arts Annual: Reemergence” exhibition. Each event will feature two artists who will discuss their work in the context of the exhibition; programs will run for 45 minutes to one hour. Artists for this event will be Mashell Black and George Taylor.

Downtown Trenton is known for its vibrant arts scene, and right now there are several exhibits and immersive experiences happening (see below).
The Capital City is also known for amazing food. If you can't remember the last time you tried a new restaurant, it's time to check out this list.
January is also a great time to go to a Planetarium show at the NJ State Museum, check out a book or an event at the Trenton Free Public Library, and see a show at the Passage Theatre.

The Red Dot shows support of Community Arts in Trenton. Over 100 Trenton area artists created art on a 10”x10” canvas. The works are dynamic, diverse and all created specifically for Artworks.

New Jersey is home to a diverse and robust artistic community; the New Jersey Arts Annual exhibition highlights the work of visual artists and craftspeople from around the state. This year’s exhibition theme is “Reemergence.” Artists, like most New Jerseyans, are taking steps to reemerge into an altered landscape.

Clean Slate: A World Premiere Musical
PRESENTED BY: Passage Theatre and Rider University
LOCATION: The Mill Hill Playhouse
Clean Slate is a new musical that tells the story of a group of disaffected high school students who are sent to a rehabilitation camp that may, or may not, also be haunted by the souls of former campers who have gone missing. A story of radical empathy, the piece explores the need to remember who we used to be in order to move forward.
