Dear Taxpayer,

The Second installments of Real Estate and Personal Property AND Motor Vehicle Supplemental bills became due January 1, 2023.   If you registered a vehicle between October 1, 2021 and July 31, 2022 you should have received a Motor Vehicle Supplemental bill.

No bills were mailed for second installments due.  Use the “2nd B Payment” portion of the original bill to send with your payment.  If you don’t have it, you may send a check with your name and address and we should be able to find your account.  Please include a phone number on your check in case we have to contact you.

Bills can be viewed and paid at https://www.newhartfordct.gov.  If paying online there is a charge for processing the payment from the vendor.  The following are the fees:

$2.00                e-check

$3.95                visa debit

2.5%                 all other cards

If not paid on or before February 1, 2023 the entire tax becomes delinquent from January 1.  USPS postmarks are accepted as a payment date.

Please Make Sure Your Checks Are Made Out Correctly – Date, Dollar Amounts, Legal Tender Line And Signatures!!   If There Are Any Errors They Will Be Returned.  If a phone number is available we will try to contact you.  Be Aware That If They Are Returned Due To Errors And Are Not Received Before The Due Date, Interest Will Be Added.

Any questions about assessments or exemptions should be directed to the Assessor at 860-379-5235.  If you have disposed of a motor vehicle you are being billed for, please call the Assessor’s office to find out what documentation you will need to submit to receive a credit.

This office does not accept payments nor have access to information pertaining to the Fire Districts.  Please direct any Fire District questions to your Fire District tax collector.
