Youth Volunteer Opportunities
We are looking for teen volunteers (ages 15-17) to assist with April Vacation and Spring Classes. In these roles, volunteers work alongside our Lead Teachers and directly assist younger students with their daily art lessons. These volunteers are a huge support in the classroom and develop a sense of responsibility through observation, participation, planning and implementation - all while having fun!

THIS WEEKEND!
The Concord Film Project continues on Sunday, March 26 at 4pm with the "must-see-wanderlust-surf-movie", Given.
Given is the simple yet powerfully contemplative story of a unique family legacy come full circle. Told through the visceral experience of a 6 yr. old, Given follows legendary surfers Aamion and Daize Goodwin from their island home of Kauai through 15 different countries in the quest for surf and to fulfill a calling handed down through generations.
Want something savory or sweet with your movie? Add an optional meal from Saltbox Kitchen to your film ticket!
PLUS the first opportunity for Kid Care! Our Kid Care pilot program gives parents the opportunity to watch a film while their child(ren) engage in art activities inspired by the film. Pre-registration required.
FREE Art as Activism Workshop for Teens this weekend!
Join artist Nayda A. Cuevas and see how she uses her art on a gallery wall to create a dialogue about race/identity. In a safe and welcoming space, students will learn and discuss how other artists stand up to racial injustice and confront such issues as colonialism, stereotypes, slavery, racism, patriarchy, apartheid, and erasure of indigenous peoples and then create their own artwork to be exhibited at The Umbrella Arts Center in April 2023.
IN THE COMMUNITY
On Sunday, April 2 at 7pm, The Umbrella is pleased to join First Parish in Concord Social Action Community in co-sponsoring a talk by renowned author and activist Bill McKibben at Concord Carlisle High School.
For over 30 years, McKibben has been at the forefront of climate activism, having founded the organizations 350.org and ThirdAct.org, and with numerous books beginning with The End of Nature (1989) to his most recent The Flag, the Cross and the Station Wagon (2022).
