Saturday, August 26 Beginning at 7pm - GET A CLUE: INTERACTIVE MURDER-MYSTERY TOURS OF THE MARK TWAIN HOUSE with Sea Tea Improv (In-Person)

Inspired by the iconic board game, our GET A CLUE Murder-Mystery Tours use the various rooms (secret passageway, conservatory, billiards room, and more) of the Twain house -- and some of the author's favorite literary characters -- as part of the game. Who killed that varmint Pap Finn? Was it Tom Sawyer in the Library with the Wrench? Come find out. It is different every time!

In-Person Experience! Reservations required. CLICK HERE to reserve.

FREE Fun for Connecticut Families!

After 1,006 tickets sold and 344 households served, we’d like to thank the state of Connecticut’s Summer at the Museum Initiative! Funding has been exceeded, but we are happy to announce that we will be continuing the program on a limited basis.

We are offering our 9:45am Mark Twain House tour and our 10am Growing Up in the Gilded Age interactive youth tour for FREE for the rest of the summer!

Connecticut children ages 18 and under plus one accompanying adult receive FREE admission. Connecticut families can learn more and access reservations HERE: https://marktwainhouse.org/ctsummer/

The Mark Twain House's Reading Challenge: Update!

We're approaching the first benchmark of The Mark Twain House's Reading Challenge! We've almost achieved our first goal - The Adventures of Tome Sawyer: 300 Books Read. Our total goal is 1,874 books read; 1874 being the year the Clemens Family moved into their Hartford home.

We're challenging everyone this year to get hooked on good books. The Mark Twain House's Reading Challenge is open to readers of ALL ages, languages, and backgrounds. The books don't need to be by or about Mark Twain, but we certainly encouraging showing Samuel Clemens some love.

Now through December 31st, 2023, participants are encouraged to participate and share their reads with us through our form below, our Facebook group, our StoryGraph Challenge, and our GoodReads Group. Visitors to the Museum are also to encouraged to interact with our post-it wall and share with us: their favorite book, a book recommendation, and/or their own personal reading goals.

In January 2024 we will randomly select 3 adult and 3 youth participants for a variety of reading-themed prizes. Learn more and get started by CLICKING HERE.
