The value of public museums:
Support Dinosaur Discoveries: Ancient Fossils, New Ideas at UMMNH
The Dinosaur Discoveries: Ancient Fossils, New Ideas traveling exhibition from the American Museum of Natural History will open at the U-M Museum of Natural History in February 2024.  Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, there are currently $3,000 in matching funds available so your donation can have double the impact!

Help us bring the exhibition to life by making a donation today!

A gift to support Dinosaur Discoveries is a vote of confidence in the valuable programming public science museums provide.

Simply put: children love dinosaurs! For many, an initial fascination with dinosaurs develops into a lifelong interest in science. Traveling exhibits attract new audiences and inspire new generations. As a free museum, UMMNH makes these experiences accessible to all, without a ticket fee or upcharge.

Research indicates that:
Children who see real fossil evidence are more likely to accept evolution as an explanation for Earth's biodiversity
Museums provide memorable and sometimes transformative social experiences that help audiences build and reinforce expertise over time
Children who come to museums with their families are more likely to visit museums as adults
Children who visit museums with their families are more likely to engage in other lifelong learning behaviors as adults, such as visiting libraries.

A gift to the Dinosaur Discoveries traveling exhibition says, “yes, please!” to exciting, thought-provoking, and awe-inspiring UMMNH programming – today, and in the future.

Your donation will support:
Free admission for all
Free and fun hands-on educational activities
Exhibition installation expenses

We’re planning a rich array of additional programs and opportunities surrounding this exciting exhibition. All contributors will be invited to a special donor event!

A gift of:
$1,000 will help train student docents to engage visitors with hands-on objects in the exhibition gallery
$500 will add hands-on elements to a U-M Research Station exhibit featuring a newly discovered species of dwarf sauropod
$250 will help cover the cost of street pole banners to advertise the exhibition
$50 will provide toys and educational resources for a preschool exploration area
All gifts matter and your generosity makes a difference! Click here to make a gift today!
