Friday Open Forum
Grab some Christmas cookies and cocoa and join us this month for a get together as we head into the holidays. We have had some great conversations this year and I'd like to hear about your hopes for your library as we enter the new year. I'm sending the reminder early this time, so be sure to put this on your calendar for Friday, December 15 at 9:00.
Remember that if you have a quick question, I am now available to chat on my work mobile number. 515-729-0124

FOUNDATION DIRECTORY ONLINE
Our vendor (Candid) has made a few changes to how libraries sign up for access to The Foundation Directory Online-FDO. Our next sign up period will end Dec. 29, so I want to get you thinking about making sure your library provides this resource for you and your patrons. Remember this is a free (to you) product that is paid for by The State Library of Iowa for every public library in the state. It currently is only available for in-library use, so patrons should use it from one of your computers and it should be available on your website. In some cases, they may be able to access it from their own device, while using your wi-fi. If you have a PLOW website, our district LRT, Dori, can help make sure it gets added to your website and everything is up and working like it should be.
If you are not currently a user, follow the directions to receive access to FDO. Libraries must submit their static IP address or IP range to the online Google form. For more information check out the State Library webpage "online resources."
And, don't forget, there are lots of ways to get training on how to use this amazing product. Check out the FDO YouTube channel or watch the recorded webinar "Find Grant Money for Your Library and Community Using Foundation Directory" in IaLearns. And of course, I'm always available to answer questions or do training for you.
