Northwest Office Hours are back this week with two chances to chat. Choose either Tuesday September 12  OR Thursday September 14, whichever best fits your schedule.  Note: Office Hours moves to the second week this month.

Then in moving toward the fall season, here's NW Office Hours schedule October through December:

Sioux County Staff Training Day 2023

In August, I shared this invitation from the Sioux County libraries.  It bears repeating today because tomorrow is the registration deadline.

Northwest Iowa library staff are welcome to attend Sioux County's Staff Training Day on Tuesday September 19.  Sponsored by the Sioux County Libraries, Sioux Center Public Library is hosting this continuing education event, scheduled from 9:00AM-2:00PM. 

Organizers are asking for pre-registration and this year and they are asking that payment and registration all be done online in an effort to ease the process for everyone.  The cost is $20.00 per person, the registration deadline is September 12. 

Lunch will be provided with two soups to choose from (one gluten-free option) along with sandwiches.  If you prefer to bring your own lunch, please let Sioux Center PL know that so they can relay an accurate meal count to the caterer.

Maddy Vlotho from Hawarden Public Library and myself are among the speakers, with breakout session also planned.  A final agenda will be emailed to everyone who pre-registered in the week prior to the event.

Program coordinator Heidi Ouwinga, Assistant Director at Sioux Center Public Library, writes "We hope you can join us for this fun day of networking and learning with area library staff! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out

Learning Circuit Registration Deadline

Learning Circuit 2023.  September 28.
Various Locations Across the State. 
9:00AM-3:30PM.

Note the deadline to register for this year’s Learning Circuit workshop is tomorrow September 12.  Happening at six locations across the state, the day begins with a “Community Asset Mapping” workshop, featuring two national experts presenting via ZOOM.  A hands-on segment follows in the afternoon.  Click below for the locations and registration.

About NW District Office Hours

NW District Office Hours are informal gatherings in ZOOM, casual conversations as we talk about whatever issues are top-of-mind.  It's an ideal chance to pose questions of each other and share solutions that work for you. 

And for newly hired directors, these sessions are a good networking opportunity--think of this as a virtual meet-and-greet with new colleagues.
