Between the ARSL Conference (two weeks ago), the Learning Circuit (last week), and the ILA Conference (next week), PLUS all the cool CE stuff listed below, there's a little going on, eh? Read on for all sorts of events coming up from the State Library. And reach out with questions!
If you know me, I'm none too pleased about shorter days and cooler weather (#SummerForever), but it was a treat to round out September and start October with a few days on the road visiting libraries. For this installment of Pop YS Live, State Library Consultant Janeé Jackson-Doering and a panel of practitioner experts will take you through the basics of RA for Youth Services… everything from nailing the ‘what should I read next?’ conversation to sources you should follow so you can recommend the latest and greatest titles to kids, teens, and their caregivers.

Next up in the Big Ideas Book Discussion series is “The Art of Talking With Children: Simple Keys to Nurturing Kindness, Creativity, and Confidence in Kids” by Rebecca Rolland. We’ll discuss the ideas presented, and see how they apply to how all staff can better serve the library’s youngest patrons and their caregivers!
