Sponsorship opportunities are available for “Dementia Beyond Drugs & Disease,” a symposium discussing the latest in person-centered, non-pharmacological care for those living with dementia. The event will be held in Oxnard on March 6.

The program is for healthcare professionals, administrators, and family caregivers. Speaking at the symposium are Dr. G. Allen Power, a renowned author and geriatrician who has dedicated his career to pioneering non-pharmacological approaches to dementia care, and Tony Chicotel, a legal advocate for elder rights who promotes the rights of nursing home residents.

“We want to give those who care for or treat dementia patients the tools that prioritize dignity, engagement and individual well-being,” says Keith Gosselin, executive director of Long Term Care Services of Ventura County, Inc., a nonprofit organization hosting the symposium. “The number of people with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias is growing. We need to get the word out that there are positive alternatives to current care.”

The symposium will be held at Staybridge Suites Oxnard-River Ridge (2102 West Vineyard Ave. Oxnard) from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The cost is $35 per person. For sponsorship and ticket information, go to https://ombudsmanventura.org/symposium.
