The First State Symphonic Orchestra and the Cecil Dance Theatre have two great shows the weekend of December 15^th! Up first: The First State Symphonic Band presents a holiday concert that’s great for patrons of all ages filled to the brim with holiday standards and modern favorites, then the Cecil Dance Theatre presents the Magical Holiday Ballet, The Nutcracker!

The First State Symphonic Band Presents: A Holiday Concert! 

The First State Symphonic Band invites you to kick off the holiday season with a spectacular musical celebration at the Milburn Stone Theatre at Cecil College on Friday, December 15^th at 7 PM. This enchanting evening promises a captivating repertoire of timeless melodies, ensuring an unforgettable experience for all.

Under the masterful direction of Jonathan Wittman, the First State Symphonic Band is commemorating its remarkable 45th season. Originally established as the DuPont Company Band in 1951, the ensemble transformed into the renowned First State Symphonic Band in 1978, carrying a rich legacy of musical excellence.

The concert is recommended for ages eight and above and will feature beloved classics such as "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)," the enchanting "Greensleeves," and the serene "Silent Night." Audiences will be enchanted with age-old melodies like "The Holly And The Ivy" and the nostalgia-inducing "A Home Alone Christmas." For a dose of pure holiday cheer, the band will perform "Up On A Housetop" and a selection of other well-known favorites that transport listeners to a winter wonderland.

No holiday concert would be complete without signature classics, and the evening will conclude with the resplendent "A Christmas Festival" and the lively "Sleigh Ride." Gather your loved ones and immerse yourself in the enchanting melodies of the season. The First State Symphonic Band's Winter Holiday Concert is an event you won't want to miss!

Cecil Dance Theatre Presents: The Nutcracker 

The Cecil Dance Theatre proudly presents "The Nutcracker," a festive family-friendly ballet that will have your holiday spirit soaring. Join Clara and her Nutcracker Prince on an enchanting adventure at the Milburn Stone Theatre at Cecil College on Saturday, December 16^th at 1 PM & 5 PM, and Sunday, December 17^th at 1 PM. 

Choreographed by the talented Anya Ivanova-Bojko, this production adds a unique touch to the timeless holiday tradition. Audiences will be transported into the magical world of Clara and her Prince as they battle the Mouse King, journey through the Land of Sweets, and partake in dance celebrations hosted by the Sugar Plum Fairy. Uncle Drosselmeyer's mechanical dolls will come to life, adding a touch of magic to this heartwarming tale. Please note: both matinee performances are close to selling out, if looking to attend either 1 PM matinee please purchase your tickets as soon as possible.
