The San Francisco Chamber Orchestra’s outstanding concertmaster Robin Sharp leads her eponymous ensemble in a program of string quartet masterpieces. Joined by SFCO All-Stars Natasha Makhijani (violin), Ben Simon (viola), and Eric Gaenslen (cello) this kickoff concert to our 2023-24 Classical at the Freight season will be amazing chamber music performed with poise and polish by our A-team of All Stars.

And then on to our opening Family Concerts, back by popular demand! Oakland Fairyland’s beloved puppeteers team up with the SFCO for a delightful version of Tchaikovsky’s holiday classic. Designed for young audiences, this production features the acrobatic antics of The Puppet Company’s miniature cast accompanied by the SFCO performing highlights from this beloved ballet.which feature three pieces of incredible vibrancy and depth of meaning.

OCTOBER RECAP

"The SFCO values sharing their love of music with everyone, especially children. Our Very First Concerts are programmed in mind with the very young set of listeners, ages 0 to 7, offering activities that encourage story-telling through music. The instruments demonstrated on our October Very First Concerts at the SF Public Library and the Crowden School included violin, bass, flute, clarinet, trumpet, and trombone. Besides listening, young audience members were invited to dance and sing-a-long to familiar melodies and even participate in a conducting lesson. The SFCO continues to provide an immersive and participatory concert experience that is a delight to all!"
