Rosh Hashanah at Eldridge: Reflection, Renewal, and Gratitude

Arts and Entertainment

September 14, 2024

From: Museum at Eldridge Street

As we approach Rosh Hashanah, a time for renewal and giving, we at the Museum of Eldridge Street gather to celebrate the new year and reflect on the significance of this holiday in our founding story-137 years ago, the Eldridge Street Synagogue hosted its very first High Holiday service for Rosh Hashanah.

This marked the beginning of a new chapter for New York’s Lower East Side as the synagogue opened its doors to welcome newly arrived immigrants from Eastern Europe for the High Holidays. Today, our building continues to stand as a remarkable symbol of heritage and hope, preserving the stories and traditions that have shaped our past and guide us into the future.

Your support has been instrumental in keeping this legacy alive. This Rosh Hashanah, we invite you to join us in continuing this tradition of reflection and celebration.

Your generous contribution ensures that the Museum at Eldridge Street remains a vibrant testament to our shared heritage, that our programs can continue to inspire and connect new generations with the history and values that define our story, and that we can continue to engage with people of all backgrounds from all around the world.
