Government and Politics

WARWICK, RI - Chairman of the Rhode Island Republican Party, Joe Powers, issued a strong condemnation of President Joe Biden’s 11th-hour pardons of individuals associated with the January 6th Committee, Dr. Anthony Fauci, and others in his administration. The pardons, announced just hours before Biden’s term ended, have sparked outrage and raised serious questions about accountability and transparency in the highest levels of government.
“This is a blatant abuse of power by a president who has spent his entire administration accusing others of undermining democracy,” said Joe Powers. “If they truly have nothing to hide, why do they need pardons? First, Biden shields his own son from accountability, and now he’s extending the same protection to his political allies and co-conspirators. It’s a slap in the face to every American who believes in justice and fairness.”
Chairman Powers pointed to the irony of the Biden administration accusing former President Donald Trump of authoritarianism while engaging in actions that reek of political self-preservation.
“President Biden has demonstrated that he is willing to go to any lengths to protect himself and his cronies. They’ve spent years accusing President Trump of being a dictator, but what’s more dictatorial than erasing the accountability of your closest allies with the stroke of a pen? This reeks of desperation and corruption,” Powers continued.
The timing of the pardons, coming at the very last moments of Biden’s presidency, has fueled speculation about what the administration may be hiding. Chairman Powers highlighted the hypocrisy of the left, noting the contrast between their rhetoric about transparency and the reality of their actions.
“Let’s be clear: these pardons are not about justice—they’re about covering up the misdeeds of an administration that has failed the American people at every turn. From the botched COVID-19 response led by Dr. Fauci to the partisan witch hunt conducted by the January 6th Committee, these are not the actions of individuals who have served this country honorably. The American people deserve answers, not cover-ups,” added Powers.
The Rhode Island Republican Party calls on Congress to investigate the motivations and implications of these pardons, ensuring that no one is above the law, not even those in the highest offices of power.
