Adult Ceramic Workshops
Wheel Throwing Technique

This class will focus on enhancing our wheel-throwing technique, centering, pulling, and shaping the clay more efficiently and effectively. The goal is to learn and improve. That means we will not be keeping many of the pieces we throw in class; rather, we will cut them in half to check wall thickness and recycle the clay.
Wheel Throwing Large Forms

This class is for students interested in throwing larger pieces on the wheel. We'll review various techniques using larger clay quantities and focus on refining our forms. Don't be intimidated; 'large forms' refers to larger than what you currently throw!
Handbuilding Ceramic Wall Pieces

In this class, we will use soft and leather-hard slabs, coils, molds, and other hand-building techniques to create unique wall-mounted pieces. You'll learn different ways to create a secure hanging mechanism. Our project examples include clocks, mirrors, pocket vases, and hanging sculptures.
Underglaze Illustration

In this class, we will use underglaze to paint illustrative imagery on our pottery. Drawing inspiration from our favorite artists and nature, we'll experiment with painting on leather-hard clay and bisque ware and compare the results. You'll also be able to try various techniques, including watercolor-style effects, underglaze paper transfers, and working with saturated colors.
Ceramic Lamps

Get ready to illuminate your creativity in this exciting ceramic class, where we will try out all things lamps and lights. We'll experiment with table lamps and hanging lamps. Our focus will be on form and design. We will cover lamp hardware, wiring, and assemblage and look at different lamp shades and shapes.
