BRAC's Fall 2023 Classes at the Bronx River Art Center Begin October 2nd

Classes run October 2 - December 16, 2023

Bronx, NY...BRAC’s Fall 2023 out-of-school-time art education program will begin October 2nd and run to December 16th. Registration is now open for a wide array of classes at affordable prices in both fine and digital arts for youth ages 7 through to adults. Discounts are available for early registration and on a needs basis.

Our 2-hour classes meet once a week for 10-weeks in our state-of-the-art Fine Arts Studio, Ceramics workshop, or Digital Media Lab, and are taught by professional teaching artist with fine arts degrees and multiple years of teaching experience. Among the many art techniques offered are painting, drawing, ceramics, printmaking, mixed media, and cartooning, as well as the digital arts of illustration, animation, and photography. Classes include all materials and equipment free (materials and firing charges will be requested for our Wheel Throwing classes).

In addition to our regular classes, BRAC offers a special (FREE by application) intensive class for Teens and young adults (to age 25). Named "Teen Project Studio + 2.0" this course focuses on exploring careers in the creative industries for college bound students or those wishing to go directly into professional production studios.

This fall BRAC has added "Friday Workshops" a series of 3-hour sessions from 4:30 - 7:30 PM. Each workshop will explore a different media and/or subjects, giving students the option to try a sampling of the different art processes BRAC offers in our 10-sessions classes throughout the year. Children and adults are invited to get experimental with mixed media and Japanese N?tan art, see new depths with perspective drawing, unleash their inner filmmaker with video production, and hone their observational skills with figure drawing. These 3-Hour Workshops can be purchased singularly or as many as you like at $12 per session and are open to everyone ages 7 and above; with the exception of the Figure Drawing sessions, which are $20 each and limited to ages 18 and older.

In addition to our ongoing multi-media art education program BRAC presents engaging Contemporary Art exhibitions in our storefront gallery, as well as regular music and theatre performance productions, film screenings and community activities in our Multi-purpose Event Space. These activities provide inspiration for registered students and Community members alike.

Teen Project Studio +2.0

Teen Project Studio +2.0 is an intensive, eight-week interdisciplinary arts program for teens and young adults ages 14 to 25. This is a FREE program limited to 15 students and is by application ONLY.

The Fall 2023 session will begin October 16, meeting Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. The program is a unique opportunity to experience and learn about visual arts and the creative industries in an interactive and challenging way, taught by professional artists and designers. It is also an opportunity to meet other participants with similar interests and eagerness to learn and create together. In this 8-week intensive you will also take field trips to museums, galleries and artist or design studios. Students will craft increasingly complex projects that aim to familiarize them with art and art production for the marketplace.
