Cocktail Party Benefiting Payomet

featuring John Pizzarelli

For 25 years, Payomet Performing Arts Center has been dedicated to bringing people together to share a passion for music and an appreciation for extraordinary performances – and this special evening will be no exception.

You're invited to celebrate Payomet's 25th on Saturday, September 9! This spectacular event will feature locally-sourced cocktails, mocktails, and apps, and a one-hour performance by jazz legend, John Pizzarelli.

Come dressed to the nines, Cape Cod style. Looking good means feeling good, so please come as you are. Formal wear is not required, however, a signature boa will be provided to each guest, no matter their attire.

This party is also our chance to acknowledge and celebrate one particular member of our Cape Cod community, Sarah Swain!

Inspired to make a difference in her community after losing her mother to ovarian cancer, local musician Sarah created the Cape Cod Women’s Music Festival in 2012. In 2014, Sarah founded the Cape Wellness Collaborative, which works with a team of outstanding local wellness professionals to provide free-of-charge integrative wellness therapies to those facing cancer on Cape Cod and the Islands.

THE PICKLEBALL WARS

By Kevin Rice

Directed by Daisy Walker

World premiere!

Fred Fallon is in trouble. Newly retired and aspiring to write his first novel, Fred is hobbled with complications from hip replacement surgery, missing support from his singer-songwriter wife, Sue, and exacerbated by the loud racket issuing forth from his new neighbors’ backyard play of the game that is all the rage — pickleball. Fred’s only relief from work on his novel — which is shaping up to be the longest book ever written — is his weekly stint as a DJ at the local community radio station and providing intermittent unwanted songwriting advice to Sue. Fred’s neighbors only add to his creative and spousal woes against a backdrop of pickleball, the sport taking not just the U.S. but the entire world by storm. Is pickleball just a fun fitness fad, or is something more sinister at play? Something with geo-political consequences?
