Carol A. Bodak, age 75, cherished daughter, sister, aunt and friend, passed away in her East Haven home on Feb. 8, 2025, following a sudden illness. Born at Griffin Hospital in Derby on Nov. 21, 1949, Carol was the youngest daughter of the late Steven and Pearl (Tillotson) Bodak and was raised in Ansonia. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter and St. Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, a graduate of Ansonia High School and enjoyed a successful 40-year career in information technology at United Illuminating. Carol loved all animals, and happily shared her life with her beloved kitties, including several Siamese, a wiggly little puggle named Dakota and her most recent addition: a sweet spaniel mix she rescued and named Zoe, who quickly became her shadow. An avid sports fan, Carol held a special place in her heart for UConn Huskies women’s basketball (a fact that everyone knew by the T-shirts she always proudly wore) and loved nothing more than to spend a Sunday afternoon rooting for San Fran. Carol was happiest by the ocean, when she had a shiny new SUV and when surrounded by family who loved her—and how we loved her. She is survived by her devoted sister, Linda P. Scavone of Ansonia and sister-in-law Bonnie Bodak of North Branford, as well as loving nieces and nephews Michelle S. Bodak Acri and her husband Tom of Milford, Stephen C. Bodak Jr. and his wife Katie of Killingworth, Debora L. Scavone Goldman and her husband Andrew of Stow, Mass., and Brian M. Scavone and his wife Nicole of Seymour. She was also blessed with eight great-nephews and nieces of whom she was so very proud. In addition to her parents, Carol was predeceased by her “favorite” big brother Stephen C. Bodak, brother-in-law, John J. Scavone, and nephew, John J. Scavone, Jr. She was truly loved and will forever be missed, but we will carry her in our hearts for always.

A funeral liturgy for Carol, for which attendees will meet directly at church, will be celebrated Friday, Feb. 14, 2025, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter and St. Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 105 Clifton Ave., Ansonia. Interment will take place in the spring at St. Peter and St. Paul Cemetery, Derby. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ansonia Animal Shelter, North Division St., Ansonia, CT 06401. The Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia, is in care of arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.wakeleememorial.com.
