Surrounded by her loving family and friends, Anna Virzi Curtis, passed away on February 19th, 2025. Anna was born in 1939, the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Francesca Virzi. Her parents were the proud owners of Virzi Stores. She grew up in Ansonia, attended Assumption School and graduated from Ansonia High School in 1956. Anna worked for the family business until she married John Curtis. In 1986, together with her late husband and son, John Curtis Jr., the family founded Cross River Cabinetry. One of Anna's greatest joys was arranging gatherings for her friends and family. The Curtis home was a place filled with laughter and love. She had a deep love for her church and the Prayer Shawl Group of Holy Rosary.
Anna's family includes daughter, Nancy and her husband James Kazmierski; son, John and his wife Tina; and daughter, Suzanne and her husband Dan Butkievich. Her five grandchildren, Ashley, Kayla and Amanda Curtis, Breana and Evan Butkievich who were the loves of her life. In addition to her immediate family, Anna is survived by her cherished brother, Joe Virzi; close friends, Beni Berardelli, Louise Pelizzari, Nanda Checkley and Paula Beaudette; and sister-in-law, Pat Virzi. Anna is predeceased by sister-in-law, June Virzi; brothers, Frank Virzi and his wife Lola and John Virzi; and dear friends, Audrey Smith and Linda Chaco.
Family and friends may call on Monday, February 24, 2025 from 9:00AM to 11:00 AM at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will then be celebrated on at 11:30 AM, in Holy Rosary Church, 10 Father Salemi Dr., Ansonia. Private interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia.
