New York, NY - The Morgan Library & Museum announces its 2022-2023 season of Music at the Morgan that celebrates the intersection between art, literature, and music with engaging concerts inspired by its collections and exhibitions. The Boston Early Music Festival series features semi-staged opera performances of Jean-Baptiste Lully’s Idylle sur la Paix and Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s La Fête de Rueil; and first time appearances by the Chiaroscuro Quartet; and Ensemble Castor with mezzo-soprano Mireille Lebel in an all Vivaldi program. Vocal music recitals include Benjamin Taylor, baritone, with Katelan Terrell, piano; and the George London Foundation Competition Finals. Pianists Maki Namekawa and Dennis Russell Davies honor American composer William Bolcom’s 85th birthday with the New York premiere of his latest piano work; and guitarist David Leisner performs new solo work commissions from Pierre Jalbert, Laura Kaminsky, Bun Ching Lam, Chester Biscardi, and João Luiz. The popular Young Concert Artists series and Rush Hour Music in J. Pierpoint Morgan's Library are featured January-April 2023. American Contemporary Music Ensemble performs the world premiere of Clarice Jensen’s latest work, The Exaltation of Inanna, in conjunction with the exhibition She Who Wrote: Enheduanna and Women of Mesopotamia, ca. 3400-2000 B.C. The season ends with New Parnassus performing Beethoven's Next Quartet, with four contemporary composers taking inspiration from the sketches of Beethoven's String Quartet No. 11, Op. 95 in F minor, and composing once movement each, resulting in a completely new four-movement quartet.

Tickets are now on sale for the full season.
