IN CELEBRATION OF BLACK HISTORY MONTH
Purvis Young (1943 - 2010) was a self-taught African-American artist whose paintings focused on the lives, stories and histories of Black Americans. He filtered these motifs through the lens of folklore, religion, and art history, taking inspiration from Old Masters like El Greco and Vincent Van Gogh. Stay tuned for more details on Purvis Young's upcoming solo exhibition at MoCA Westport in Fall 2023.
