PERFORMANCES: WHILE HISSING
THURSDAY, JUNE 22 | 6-8PM | FREE
Join us for an evening of celebration and performances on the plaza in conjunction with Raven Chacon’s exhibition While hissing. MOCA will raise a new flag edition of Chacon’s American Ledger No. 1, which is part of a series of scores that tell the creation story of the United States of America. Musicians Sage Bond and MizSkoden will perform select pieces from For Zitkála-Šá, a series of graphic scores currently on view. Plus—food by Reservation Sensation Frybread!
LIMITED EDITION PRINTS
To celebrate her solo exhibition Sonoran Quipu, Cecilia Vicuña has created a small series of hand-colored, limited edition prints of On Behalf of Seeds available from her gallery Lehmann Maupin to benefit the museum. Originally printed to inaugurate Vicuña’s exhibition opening and poetry reading at MOCA, this exclusive series includes just 10 editions, each hand-colored by the artist with unique variations and tones.
Only a few prints remain, purchase yours today.
MOCA SUMMER BREAK
JULY 6 - AUGUST 30
MOCA will be closed to the public this summer as we prepare for a busy fall, but while we’re working remotely and staying cool, be sure to visit Mini MOCA-where you can take a free tiny artwork and leave your own for someone else-and Raven Chacon’s American Ledger flag, which will remain on view on the plaza.
Stay tuned over the summer for announcements about upcoming programs, exhibitions, and artist features by following us on Instagram and Facebook!
MINI MOCA ACTIVITIES
JULY - AUGUST
Join artist Lex Gjurasic for a series of creative painting prompts this summer! While MOCA is closed, we’ll share a fun prompt designed by Lex every week on our social media. Bring your prompt inspired artwork to Mini MOCA—or pick up a piece made by another participant! Be sure to follow along, post, and share with the hashtag #minimocatucson.
